A Comenius grant, or How I ended up writing this blog

I haven't really written anything about myself yet and why I started writing this blog, so this seems like a good time to do so. I'm a teacher of English language and Computer Science from Croatia (yes, an unusual combo of majors, but actually it works quite well) and I'm currently working in an elementary school, teaching English to children aged 7 to 11 (sometimes I work with older children, too, but this varies from year to year.).

Now I could explain the title of this post. Since ELT and ICT are my two interests (both private and work-related), I decided to apply for a a two-week course in Limerick, Ireland on using ICT in language teaching. I was lucky enough to get the Comenius grant I applied for (actually, luck had nothing to do with it, it is purely one's effort and willingness to struggle with a lot of paperwork) and off I went to my Irish adventure. The grant was awarded to me by the Croatian Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes as a part of the European Commission's Lifelong Learning Programme (click on the links or the logos below to read more about the two).

In the following few posts I'm going to stray from the topic of the blog and I'll switch to Croatian, because I would like to write some information about the process of applying for a Comenius grant that might help my Croatian colleagues interested in applying for the funding. Actually (to be honest), I have already put everything together in Croatian and I don't feel like doing the same thing again in English. I also tried to include a few guidelines and practical tips, from finding the right course, to filling in the application form and writing the final report (which you have to complete once you return from the course/conference/job shadowing).
